When looking at charts for a Country, not only do we look at the quarterly Ingress charts and the charts of the Eclipses, but we should also look at the Ingress of the Sun into a new sign every month. This chart can indicate issues that may arise within the country over the coming month.
On the 22nd July at 13.29GMT, the Sun enters the regal sign of Leo associated with Kings and Rulers. It is a sign that also contains what is known as the MC, the highest point in the heavens. Here we have a very strong indication that this month will relate to matters pertaining to those who rule over us; our overlords or bosses. It is not every year when the Sun enters Leo that it finds itself at the very peak of the chart in the 10th house. In other words we can say the spotlight this month definitely falls on those who rule over us.
Going back over 25 years to 1999, I hunted for the years when the Solar Ingress into Leo fell in the 10th sign. (This automatically means Scorpio is the sign rising on the Ascendant). I found only two events in the last 25 years. The charts were set for London.
2017 was the first time since 1999 when Leo was the 10th sign. This period correlated with The Duke of Edinburgh carrying out his last official engagement on the 2nd August before retiring at the age of 96. The next time was in 2021 when Prince Andrew had a lawsuit filed against him in New York (10th August) regarding Virginia Giuffe, and Parliament was recalled (18th August) to discuss the fall of Kabul. It will be interesting to see if anything of a similar nature occurs during this coming month. However, I should point out that in both of those earlier charts, Mars the Ascendant Ruler was also in Leo. This year he is in Virgo.
Scorpio rises with Mars as the Ascendant ruler. Mars also rules the 6th sign relating to health, Unions, the Armed Forces and the servants of the King or Country. We notice Saturn is in the 6th sign of Aries where he is said to be fallen. Saturn applies by retrograde motion to trine the Sun from the sign of the Exaltation of the Sun. In the past Saturn was taken to indicate Senior Statesman, as well as standing for the King. Being placed in the 6th house of illness could be taken to indicate the known illness of the King. The cadent houses are also known as the houses of travel and travail. This placement could also point to strikes and problems relating to the Land and Communications, as well as those involved in the health sector. There may be a rise in unemployment and the common people may find themselves constrained and repressed in some way.
Returning to Mars; he is located in the house of Good Fortune, in the cold, dry sign of Virgo, ruled by Mercury. We note Mars is closely conjoined the South Node. This is one of the places where the Eclipses take place. A light is extinguished. In Western astrology the South Node is taken as a sign of diminishment and with Mars within a degree of the South Node there could be a loss or trouble of some kind for the people of the country. Mars moves into his exile on the 6th August and this may well herald a further change for the people and not necessarily for their improvement.
The closest aspect to Mars comes from Venus. She is a morning star who shines brightly in the pre-dawn, but is peregrine, a wanderer. She is in the bounds of Mars, but as Mars is in the sign of her fall and the aspect is by square, this does not bring tidings of joy. Venus rules the 7th of Partners, as well as the 12th relating to institutions and the “enemies of the country”. She also has a share in the 5th house of entertainment, pleasure, sport and children. She has no power to act and her ruler or dispositor, is himself also retrograde and moving away from her. She is rather lonely and in the 8th sign of idleness, inheritance, assets of others and the death rate. The stressful square from Mars could point to problems with our partners and Institutions that are managed by outside forces. Venus moves into Cancer where she has some dignity by Triplicity on the 31st July, so hopefully troubles will be short lived.
Mercury, the dispositor of both Mars and Venus, indicates children; all forms of communications, travel, education and public debating. Not forgetting his relationship with Trade, commerce and negotiations! He is high in the 10th and moving back into the light of the King. There may be some Royal Decrees relating to the Government of the Country. However, on this day, Parliament goes into recess and does not return until the 1st September. A lot can happen in that time! Mercury conjoins the Sun on the 31st July and stations Direct at 4 Leo on the 11th August to emerge as a morning star and begin a new phase.
The last two planets on which to focus for the month are the Moon and Jupiter. Both planets are located in the 9th sign, commonly referred to as the House of God. The 9th is also connected with foreign affairs, long distance travel, Churches, Higher Education and the Law Courts.
The Moon has just entered her own domicile, is decreasing in light, but is also what is now referred to “as out of bounds”. That is to say, she travels above the Sun in the sky and can be seen to be a little wayward. Her immediate aspect is to Saturn, the same as with the Sun. The King and Queen of the sky are turned away from one another, but both apply to Saturn, ruler of the 4th house of the end of the matter. The 4th sign also represents the Opposition to the party in power. As noted, this is the day Parliament closes down, so realistically; we can’t expect anything much will happen relating to Parliamentary matters over this month.
Jupiter accompanies the Moon. He is in the sign of his Exaltation and allied with the Queen. Might there be news regarding a new Religious Leader for the UK? The UK has been without a Church Leader since 6th January 2025 when Justin Welby stepped down over the sexual abuse scandals. On that day, Mars was at 00 Leo!
Looking at a standalone chart doesn’t really set the context, it is just a snapshot of the Heavens on the day at the time.
If we overlay this against either the 1066 or 1801 chart it will give us a context. We can also look at this monthly chart with the chart of our Ruler. To keep this article short, I will just look at the 1801 chart as this is what most British astrologers seem to use.
The Monthly Ascendant falls in the 2nd house of the 1801 chart, relating to the Assets of the People and Mars falls in the 12th. The Institutions may be involved in assessing the assets of the people.
What is of primary interest to me is the play of Jupiter. Transiting Jupiter is on the MC degree and the Sun (as with this time every year) is in the same bound as Jupiter of the 1801 chart. This is about the Leader again. Jupiter also opposes the 1801 Sun. This happens roughly every 12 years due to Jupiter’s cycle. We also have transiting Saturn partile trining the Jupiter of the 1801 chart. Saturn is about to descend into the underworld, although this will fall under the next monthly Ingress. Jupiter is the greater benefic and we can hope his benign influence will help bring some peace to the Country and its leaders.
All that remains is to consider the Lunations of this upcoming month.
The New Moon falls on the 24th July at 19.11 GMT at 2 degrees Leo and the Lights trine this tricky Saturn.
The Full Moon is on the 9th August at 7.55 GMT at 170 Leo, conjoined to the 1801 Venus who rules the Ascendant of the Country chart, as well the 8th. Transiting Venus is within a degree of the 1801 MC and opposing the Sun of that chart. Could there be news regarding a prominent female?
Venus and Jupiter in this Full Moon chart are moving to conjunction, but, Mars at 11 Taurus intersperses his ray between them and hinders their coming together. This may suggest a hitch in trade deals or deals struck regarding Government policies. Also on this day, Saturn and Mars oppose one another, and although they have mixed mutual reception, it does not negate the stress of this aspect. We also note the MC/IC angle of this Full Moon chart falls on the 1801 Mercury. Both Lights of the Full Moon chart also have benefic aspects to Mercury, ruler of the 9th and 12th.
To sum up this monthly Ingress: It seems there may be news regarding our Leaders and Trade Deals that may have been previously been struck. There may be news regarding a new Religious Leader for the UK and it is likely a prominent female may be in the spotlight.
Let us hope for Peace and stability for the country during this month.
